Learn How To Identify Poison Ivy

Poison ivy – also well-known as toxicodendron radicans – is a kind of plant that is believed to be apart of the Anacardiaceae category. Many of us learned about this plant when we were youngsters and were told to keep far from it as we can. Those of us who did not listen to the rul soon learned about about the rash that it would stimulate and which would leave us in pain for a week.

This plant is not really an ivy – but is instead a woody vine that has the ability to produce the substance urushiol. This is a kind of skin irritant that causes the rash to come out on anyone who endeavors to touch any part of it it. This rash will make the individual really itchy. It must be dealt with unique creams.

You will be able to recognise the poison ivy plant by its familiar ‘leaves of three’. All of the blades are almond shaped and is the one thing that truly distinguishes it from some other plants. The plant will likewise have berries that are a gray-white color and which are consumed by birds during the winter. (more…)

Many of us can only dream about the perfect garden that can compliment our home and create a safe haven for us to relax in. Our idea of a great garden might consist of a few flower beds around the house, potted plants spread along the patio, or a fountain surrounded by many beautiful flower and exotic plants. Whatever our vision is the one thing that does not exist in our perfect gardens are weeds and plants that can choke them out and ruin the whole scene.

The poison ivy plant has a way of doing this. It can creep into our yard and our perfect gardens and cause mayhem. It is easy enough to spot when it is trying to grow next to our beautiful and colorful flowers – but it is not so easy to get rid of.
